Many households are without power in the Osgoode Community after an unexpected outage.
According to Hydro Ottawa, 528 customers in the Osgoode and Rideau-Goulburn wards are without power, with full restoration expected by 9:30 pm tonight.
Hydro Ontario is reporting an even bigger outage impacting over 5,900 customers, with an estimated restoration time of 5:30 pm.
Councillor Scott Moffatt tweeted Sunday afternoon that he was an experiencing an “odd” outage, where everything was running at only five per cent. That could mean it’s a “brown out” which often occur when voltage at the power station is too low.
Moffatt says both outages are most likely connected.
Another Twitter user commented: “We have a tiny bit of power – so the pvr works but the tv not at all!”
Manotick resident Andrew King also tweeted: “Power out. But lights flickering and WiFi working. Well water warning going off (never has done this).”
Crews have been dispatched to identify and fix the cause.
